Renewal Extension

License Renewal EXTENDED to JULY 1, 2021

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY RENEWED YOUR LICENSE FOR 2021, THE EXTENSION DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.  NO FURTHER ACTION IS NEEDED ON YOUR PART.

Please log into the Ohio Vision Professionals Board (VPB) eLicense Center to renew your license at eLicense Login. The preferred browser to use is Google Chrome

Recent legislation, House Bill 404, was enacted into law by Governor DeWine last week. The provisions, related to the extension of the COVID-19 emergency, are effective immediately.  The changes include:

  • VPB licensees who have licenses set to expire, now have until July 1, 2021 to renew with no late fee; and
  • VPB hearings and meetings will continue to be conducted electronically. The board must provide at least 24 hours advance notice of a meeting to the public and media.

Even though there is a renewal extension, all licensees should still renew at your regularly scheduled deadline.  Benefits include:

  • No risk of an accidental lapse in licensure resulting in an expired license and having to pay an additional late renewal fee; and
  • Staying on your regular scheduled renewal cycle timeline. Whether you renew now or later, your next renewal date will not change. For example, if your regular license is due to expire on December 31, 2020, your next renewal date will be by December 31, 2021, regardless of when you renew during the extension period.

NOTE:  The deadline for your CONTINUING EDUCATION requirement remains unchanged.   It is best to upload in a pdf format for auditing and readability of certificates.  Late fees do apply if not done on time.
